Located just outside the historic Porta Senese that gives access to the heart of the medieval village of Barberino Val d'Elsa, this terrace is a privileged place to observe the Tuscan landscape in all its harmony of colors and shapes, with rolling hills covered in vineyards, olive groves and small historic villages dotting the valley.
Shaded by pine trees, a memorial statue of 14th-century writer Francesco da Barberino, a native of the village, by German sculptor Quirin Roth, stands in the center of the square.
To look out from the Terrace of Mazzini Square is to immerse oneself in a natural picture that changes with the seasons, from the deep green of spring to the golden hues of autumn.
