The Chapel of Morandello in Badia a Passignano

A religious gem hidden among the Tuscan hills, rich in history and spirituality.

Located in the surroundings of Badia a Passignano along the road from Sambuca, it is a small but striking religious building nestled in the green Tuscan hills. Known as del Morandello, the chapel owes its name to the ancient title of the nearby farm that once belonged to the Badia a Passignano. This sacred place dedicated to Our Lady of the Annunciation and the Archangel Gabriel, little known but full of charm, represents a perfect example of Tuscan rural spirituality, where nature and devotion blend harmoniously.

Erected at the behest of the congregation of St. John Gualbert and the Abbot of Passignano Abbey, it was built on the site of an ancient tabernacle as a processional destination. It presents a simple and linear architecture, characterized by an essential facade, at the center of which is an elegant portal framed by an ocular window and two small windows. The interior, equally sober, holds a valuable work depicting the Annunciation and is pervaded by an intimate and collected atmosphere.

The natural setting surrounding Morandello Chapel adds to the charm of this place.
